Le Gâteau - Cake

How do you say cake in French?  le gâteau
'le' means 'the' and 'gâteau' means cake.  The reason I always have 'le' or 'la' along with the noun being taught is because 'le' is masculine and 'la' is feminine and for French and many other languages you need to learn and remember which is used with each noun.

The cursive is very loopy here. My son who just finished 2nd grade here likes writing in it, but my daughter who just finished kindergarten thinks it's too hard with all of the loops.
